First-time visitors, and anyone without a car
Central Riyadh in feel as well as location — offices, hotels, restaurants and shopping together, with metro access and easy taxis to Diriyah and the museums. The straightforward choice if you want to arrive and start exploring.
Business travel
Purpose-built for corporate visitors, with climate-controlled skywalks linking the towers — a real comfort in the Saudi summer, when crossing between buildings otherwise means stepping into the heat.
Families and longer, quieter stays
North-west of the centre, built for embassy staff: tree-lined streets, parks and noticeably more space. Serviced apartments here suit families who want kitchen facilities and room to spread out.
Heritage-led trips
The historic seat of the first Saudi state and the focus of the Diriyah Gate restoration, opening in phases. If the heritage quarter is your main reason for visiting, staying with easy access to it makes for a better trip than commuting across the city.
Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport sits well north of the city, so the transfer in is a real journey rather than a hop — worth pre-booking, particularly on a late arrival. Distances between districts are long enough that a private car for a half-day of sightseeing often works out easier than repeated taxis.
