In Makkah, one thing sets both your walk to prayer and your price: how far you are from the Masjid al-Haram. The towers at the Haram itself are closest and dearest; Jabal Omar and Ajyad sit within a walk of roughly 5–15 minutes; Misfalah is a little further out toward the Bab al-Umrah and Bab Ibrahim Khalil gates; and Aziziyah, around 3–5 km away, is the budget choice but needs a shuttle or a car rather than a walk.

Read the area guide →Madinah is simpler than Makkah: hotels fall into three bands around the Masjid an-Nabawi. The Central Zone (Markaziyah) surrounds the mosque, with front-row hotels facing the courtyards under about 200 metres away. The streets just beyond it are a 5–15 minute walk and cost noticeably less. Outer districts are cheaper again but need a shuttle or a car.
